The album was produced by Rich Mouser and Jamie Brown and recorded, mixed & mastered at The Mousehouse Studio in Los Angeles, CA With influences that range from Queen to Bad Company to Thin Lizzy, Radio Silence is best described as a perfect blend of classic rock with a modern-day edge. Recorded on two-inch analog, it sounds real, it is real, and truly represents the way our band sounds!” the songs, the tones and the performances. Regarding the recording process, lead singer Jamie Brown comments, “We wanted to make a rock record that you’d want to crank in your car and drive fast with the windows down and I think we accomplished that!” Drummer Dave Landry adds, “We are all very proud of this album and are ecstatic the way it turned out. Now, 30 years later, the band returns with a new offering entitled Radio Silence, which features 11 tracks of pure adrenalized classic rock influenced music, and also features special guest appearances by guitar legend George Lynch, King’s X frontman dUg Pinnick and Korn drummer Ray Luzier. Originally formed in the late '80s, Roxanne garnered commercial success with their 1988 self-titled debut album, which was well received with two songs charting on rock radio “Cherry Bay” and “Sweet Maria”, as well as a cover of Wild Cherry’s “Play That Funky Music” which hit #63 on the Billboard singles charts and was in full rotation on both dance and rock stations simultaneously.Īs with many bands from that era, facing the decline in interest for AOR rock due to the onslaught of the grunge scene, the guys in Roxanne went on hiatus. A video for the album opener, "Someone To Kill", can be found below. Had Roxanne limited their sophomore effort to those first seven songs, it would have likely made the Sleaze Roxx’s Top Ten Albums of 2018 but you take an album as a whole, and those last four tracks just aren’t at the same level as the first magnificent seven.Radio Silence, the sophomore release from the LA based rock band Roxanne, will be available on October 26th via Rat Pak Records. I think the reason for that is that the album kind of slows down and tails off quite a bit with the last four tracks. My first few listens were enjoyable but nothing really stuck out that much aside that it was quite well produced and sounded great. I also see that Roxanne seem to have continued where they left off with their debut as the attitude, groove and swagger from at least those two songs can definitely be found on Radio Silence.Īfter hearing the first three singles (via videos) from Radio Silence - “Someone To Kill”, “Super Bad” and “Go Fuck Yourself” - I knew that I would be buying the album and made a point of getting it before year’s end. I did listen to a few tracks from the debut (“Cherry Bay” and “Sweet Maria”) for the purposes of my review of Radio Silence and I like what I heard. I confess that I don’t recall Roxanne from back in the late ’80s but then again, I wasn’t really into AOR back then and from what I can tell from the band’s description of its debut, it was more melodic rock than anything else. 1 2 Next of 2 Stefan 16.9k Gender:Male Location:Finlandia Favorite Band:Duran Duran Posted SeptemFrom Rat Pak Records: RAT PAK RECORDS SET TO RELEASE ROXANNE 'RADIO SILENCE' Radio Silence is the sophomore release from the LA based rock band Roxanne and will be available on Octovia Rat Pak Records.
